How Does Verizon Connect Reveal Work?
Open Verizon Connect Reveal on desktop and you'll see a menu listing the different features every fleet manager needs.
Key elements include a click-and-drag live map, reporting, a timeline view for replaying recent location history. We liked the “street view” mode as well, which shows what each individual dash cam is seeing in real time, and quickly verifies that every vehicle is where it should be. You will also see a list of places and geofences, an alerts overview, service reminders, ELD tracking data, and a dashboard that can display stats on fuel use, payroll, and safety.
Each option includes its own nested subcategories, ensuring that every action is only a few clicks away. Verizon Route Optimization
Verizon achieved a 5/5 research score for tracking. The service's route dialog box lets managers create a new route and assign vehicles to it.
Unlike Teletrac Navman, which offers third-party route optimization integrations, Verizon handles automatic route optimization along with scheduling and dispatch within its own software system. Vehicles and workers can be matched to job needs. Multiple routes can be imported or exported, and existing ones can be edited. Users can set custom locations and geofenced areas, and will receive traffic alerts while mileage is tracked.
Managers can track vehicles in real time with the service's impressive 30 second refresh time (even Samsara only guarantees between 30 seconds and a minute), with alerts triggered by any unexpected changes like a speed limit violation, arrival at a destination, or the due date for a routine servicing. Vehicles and alerts can all be seen from the main dashboard screen view.

Verizon Driver Management
Verizon also earns a 5/5 score from our industry researchers for its complex driver management tools. Fleet managers can track active drive time and number of stops with the travel and stops report, as well as tracking stats for each driver: Ignition status, transit time, idle time, and speed exceptions.
Any updates can be directly messaged to a driver with a few clicks, and managers will be alerted when a driver responds. Our researchers liked that managers can replay vehicle routes, viewing all driver details and time stamps. The service's mobile app can display a driver leaderboard based on wide range of performance metrics.
This data can be used for daily fleet summary or individual driver reports as well, letting managers know what issues might be responsible for a low driver score. For example, a driver who speeds frequently might have a report that displays the duration and severity of their increased speed. Custom reports can be generated, along with four set templates: daily, detailed, distance traveled and geofence reports. Verizon's driver data analysis run deeper than most fleet systems, although Samsara still matches it.
The system is designed to track vehicles rather than individual drivers, but a paid add-on includes a Driver ID reader, which is helpful for tracking drivers even if they switch vehicles. Managers can also replay logged routes later if they want to investigate efficiency.

Verizon Vehicle Management
Industry-leading fuel management is one big reason behind Verizon's 5/5 score for vehicle tools. The main report interface offers reports covering fuel efficiency, lost fuel, and overall carbon footprint, complete with auto-calculated efficiency metrics. No fleet systems offer as many fuel reports as Verizon. Even Samsara doesn't offer reports specific to carbon footprints.
A speed report lets managers click a replay button to view a playback of a particular speeding incident on a specific route. Vehicle hardware diagnostic reports are also available. Scheduled maintenance alerts can be set for calendar or mileage intervals, with a full maintenance record tracking historical data.
While Verizon doesn't offer a dedicated theft prevention tool, alerts can be triggered if the system is unassigned for a certain length of time, and geofencing or out-of-hours driving alerts can also be set up. Finally, we found that Verizon can track both vehicle engine and cargo temperatures to ensure nothing overheats.
Not every fleet system offers these tools. Teletrac Navman is our third-highest rated fleet system, but Teletrac does not track engine or cargo temperature, unlike Verizon and Samsara.

Verizon GPS Tracking
Verizon uses real-time GPS location to track each vehicle, and offers Driver-Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) compliance. The same 5/5 research score from our route optimization section still applies to the service's top-tier GPS tracking tools.
In addition, the system covers Electronic Logging Device (ELD) compliance through the ELD Logbook. With this add-on, an engine connectivity hardware unit will be installed into each vehicle, allowing software to record and store all the needed ELD compliance reporting and manages alerts. It's an FMCSA-registered ELD solution.
Finally, there's International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) compliance. Verizon integrates with fuel card providers including Amerifuel, Comdata, and Fleetcor, and a built-in fuel log allows drivers to manually record purchases.
Commercial Vehicle Roadside Assistance
Verizon Connect Reveal offers a 24/7 roadside service for commercial vehicles in the US, though this will cost extra once you surpass the first four service calls per vehicle annually. Under this service, assistance is integrated into the software: Managers can locate the vehicle in question on their live map and select the “roadside assistance” option to immediately get the phone number for the correct roadside assistance operator, as well as an 8-digit verification code to provide to the operator.
Roadside Assistance includes:
- First 25 miles of towing
- Winching for light vehicles, up to 30 feet off the public roadway
- Fuel delivery of up to 3 gallons
- Tire service for one flat or blown out tire (using the vehicle's spare)
- Jumpstarting a dead battery (excludes hybrid vehicles)
- Lock-out service (the cost of keys, parts, or additional labor is an extra charge)
Your Roadside Assistance coverage will be available as soon as you activate the feature, although any vehicles that need assistance must need to be registered for Roadside Assistance first.
Spotlight Mobile App
All Verizon Connect Reveal plans include the “Spotlight,” available for iOS and Android devices. It lets managers track and interact with their entire fleet, covering core abilities including a live map for full fleet visibility, a search function for pulling up specific vehicles, drivers, or assets, and two-way messaging support for all drivers.
Alerts can be received on the app as well, making this an easy way for managers to stay on top of their responsibilities while on the go: Our testing team found the alerts to be particularly useful for gauging whether drivers have reached their destinations.

Fleet AI Dashcam
Verizon's AI Dashcam add-on gives users the hardware and software needed to support HD dashcam video footage of their fleet. Once in place, the system mitigates risk, while allowing managers to coach their drivers through best practices both using AI-powered automatic features and using the extra driver data collected by the cameras.
The dash cam package includes both a 150° 720p front-facing cam and a 145° night-vision-capable driver-facing camera, so it will record both the road outside and the driver within the cab. The software's AI-based video analytics filters out the inconsequential footage, and ranks any important events by severity, from “near-miss” to “harsh driving event” to “collision.” Managers will be alerted within minutes of the event, and can download the video clips to save them. Drivers can receive an audio alert for any dangerous driving event as well.

Verizon also offers a field service system called Verizon Connect Field Service Dispatch that's designed for small to midsize service operations with field technicians, like HVAC software businesses, plumbers, and electricians. Basically, if you have a fleet of vans, this software offers everything you’ll need to schedule and assign jobs to those driving them. It will ensure there are no blind spots hiding inefficiencies in your day to day business.
Verizon Connect Field Service Dispatch is only available as an add-on to the Verizon Connect Reveal vehicle tracking service, and it costs an additional $20 per technician per month. Verizon Connect Field Service Dispatch includes:
- Scheduling and dispatch — Quickly send new assignments to your drivers, anywhere, anytime.
- A centralized, online dashboard — Visualize your operation in real time, with a calendar view as well as a live map.
- CRM tools — Verizon Connect Field Service Dispatch can automatically create user profiles for each customer, pulling them up when it recognizes an incoming call and helping managers keep track of each customer’s needs and client history.
- Quickbooks integration — Verizon Connect Field Service Dispatch offers third-party integrations with Quickbooks and other purpose-built invoicing services, rather than trying to do it themselves.

Verizon Connect Set Up and Customer Support
Verizon Connect Reveal earned a 3.5/5 score for support from our research team. That's not a perfect score, as the service lacks a chat bot support option, and won't install hardware for free. If great support is your biggest need, you might prefer Omnitracs, which we gave a 5/5 support score for its chatbot, free installations and 24/7 support.
Still, Verizon does offer around-the-clock support via phone and email (support@verizonconnect.com), which you won't get from many competitors including Quartix, GPS Trackit, and Spireon, although it is matched by industry leaders Samsara and Azuga.
The service's onboarding process is fairly easy. Although it won't install them for without cost, it offers fleet managers their hardware units for free, and provide a knowledge base on the internet to help guide customers through what it says is a 15-minute process.

Verizon ties with Samsara, for the highest score out of any fleet management provider we've tested.
